ah Tim , thats rubbish news mate. At least you got the van back. I was really looking forward to seeing the results of the transplant too.

I have settled for something a bit more mundane than a V6 - an Opel Manta injected lump. Aside from an electronic fuel pump and (possibly) a larger bore uptake from the tank, it's a fairly straight forward swap. When I have sold my Bedouin in the next few months, I'm going to get started on rebuilding the engine before I put it in.

Oh and I never get overtaken by Nissan Micras in my CF2, you must be doing something wrong mate ;-) - NOTE, I get overtaken by EVERYTHING in my little old CF1 though.

Bago, thanks for the tip... looks like he's doing a lovely job on your van. For me though, I've lost too much of my slush fund all-in-all to make it worth me trying to do anything as drasti now.

Oddly though Philbut, I have started looking at fuel injection and have started to wonder if a swap for an Opel 2.2CIH might be a good idea. I'm really not looking for insane performance, the van can keep pace with traffic on the long A-roads round here (I was joking about the Nissan Micra), but I'd like to stretch the top end by only about 10mph and give her some extra acceleration up that way too.

I've said it before but she's surprisingly quick off the mark up to about 50mph. Its after that she starts to get a bit leisurely about accelerating and if its a long uphill she'll be steadily decelerating all the way up it.

The one and only thing I want to be able to do is to see off VW Transporters. Went for a blast along the A27 last night and held my own against a Sportline looking Transporter, but he had the legs on me going uphill and eventually left me in the fog.

= (

I just want enough extra juice to keep the bloody VW crowd in their place. They're everywhere down here the smug gits.

: )

If you fancy some major engine transplant work I've got a nice car looking for a new home. 2000 (W) Vectra CDX 2.5l V6. Full leather interior too. It went through it's MOT about 2 years ago then the clutch slave cylinder went. It's an engine out job to change so would have cost more than the car is worth to do. It's just been sat on the drive. I don't think anyone on here has done a FWD V6 CF yet?

Tim, if you can find a 2.2 CIH that would be ideal. They are like bloomin rocking horse dooodoo. The 2.4 out of a frontera is also an option, but they are thirstier I believe, and tend to suffer from barrel ware.

The Manta boys tend to go for twin webbers if they want more power (or megasquirt to be really techy) as the bosch Jetronic system isn't that tuneable. For a CF though I hope the stock 2.0 CIH from a GTE should be fine. Makes 110bhp (at the crank I assume) so an extra 20 or so above the CF. there is some plumbing to do such as larger fuel pickup from the tank (you really want a 12mm rather than the 6mm) for fuel injection and the pump, but other than that it should be a fairly streight forward job (I will no doubt be eating my words when I get round to doing it!)

Why not convert your 2.3 to injection though .

this is a combo job with half 2.3 Beddy inlet and half 2.2 vauxhall manifold.
the Beddy manifold is ground out to take the cut down vauxhall all tig welded and cleaned up, the injectors holes need to be drilled in the Beddy inlet.

This is not my conversion nor my idea It belongs to a gent from accross the water in europ.

Will try and get some more photos if I have them saved.
