north devon sites?

Hi All.
Can anyone tell me any good campsites around corwall,north devon, somerset borders. Intend on touring round with the view of moving down that way, need a base camp site.

Hi Jeff,theres a site we use at a place on Exmoor
one side of the field is in Somerset the other side is in Devon, how`s that for a borderline site. The owner is called Carol Burge and her address is Parsonage Farm Malmesmead, it is in a place known as Doone Valley just the other side of Porlock, access to the site is through the car park at Malmesmead the price is £3.50 p/p per night, free hot showers, toilets, washing up facilities and chemical toilet disposal. If you like a quiet site off the beaten track this is it.
Don`t know quite what you mean by a good site i/e if you want a club room, swimming pool, tennis courts etc this is not the site, if you want peace and quiet then it is, the field is bordered by a Trout stream and they are {very tasty}.
If you are interested will tell you how to get there {not easy to find}.

Yep, no problem mate the phone number is 01598 741267 open april~october, outside dates negotiate with Carol, Directions, first get to PORLOCK, go up the hill 1in4 1st gear all the way or you can take the toll road, when you get to the top on the flat dont take the 1st road on the left although you can go this way there`s a very narrow bridge, go on past pub on your left and take the next left about 3-4 miles, down the hill over bridge turn right, over next bridge turn right into 2nd carpark behind shop, through gate into field.Not sure about hookup.

Nearly forgot if you type Carol Burge into your search bar then click number 1 on first page you can see the field.

Is the little narrow bridge the one you get to by going down a 1 in 4 then past a small car park on the right? I've often wondered if it was wide enough for a coachbuilt. I nearly measured it when I was there last week (in the car).

Yep thats the one Colin (Robbers Bridge), doubt whether you`ll get Pioneer over though, have got pop tops over it but only about an inch or so each side to spare, we come in from the other end with our coachbuilt no probs, you can park up at night there to, no ones ever bothered us for the last 20 yrs.

I thought I had the right one. It does look a bit narrow for a coachbuilt. I'll have to measure it next time I'm there. I have thought of a night or two in the car park just before it. I would imagine it would be quiet enough. The hill to get back up to the main road is a bit of a killer though - yet another 1 in 4
