Having read posts elsewhere on the site is this the first officialley - unofficial meet of CF-UK members

If so who is responsible

If no one is prepared to put thier name forward then you should inform the organizers of this event that you are no longer attending as a club but would still like to attend as individual entries

will be attending so if you are looking for spares pm may be able to help

According to the list of CF Club members that will be at Pickering totals 9 this was all arranged early on this year as for who is responsible well that's a good question. As the club has decided that they are not supporting any meets it comes as a bit of a shock, whats the point of a club that wont support any meets?. Everyone from the club who is exhibiting sent their own entry form and a copy of their insurance so in fact they are all individual entries.

It's not a case of the club not supporting any meets. The club will support meets where possible but most of the meets are of a 'wild camping' variety and holds bonfire/BBQs which cannot be covered by our liability insurance. To take out cover that would cover that sort of thing is not financially viable for the number of meets held. The cost of liability cover for the type of meets we have at the locations we have them in would cost more than the income of the club.

Going back to Pickering, this isn't a CF club organised event. It's an organised event that the CF club is attending. It is up to the organisers to arrange liability cover, not the club.

So what meets will the club support at Pickering it sates in the conditions that no fires are allowed, perhaps a BBQ might be used by some CF members but hey we all use them at home.

It was at Pickering when I joined the Cf club and with the amount of members there I thought it was an official CF meet, seems I was wrong, so if this is the case there is no point in having a rally section on the site.

Can I clear this up once and for all. The CF club has NEVER organised the Pickering meet. We have attended it as a club and still can. There is a very big difference between organising a meet and attending a meet.

glad to say we will be going to pickering for the unorganised beddy meet after spending large amounts to get a MOT sorted (ouch) been to a few beddy get togethers I am wondering as a club has there ever been a ORGANISED official meet and who cares anyway, We Joan and myself go to meets to meet strange people like ourselfs with or without officialdom making its entrance. My van is insured so presume it is OK to go to any site. Sorry but I cannot get my head round what is and what isnt a meet. Can I be clearly be put in place ?

Glad to here you can make it Joan and Jim look forward to seeing you again this will be the third meet that we have both been on, "official or unofficial" who cares anyway its still a meet, get together, gathering or whatever anyone likes to call it.

Likewise been doing it for years but the way I read it the cf club hasn't had an OFFICIAL club meet since I joined as it dosent have the type of public liability insurance to cover one ie BBQs and Fires.

There have been lots of official club meets but this was before the ugly word 'insurance' raised it's head. Back in the day this was a happy club where we could all get together, have a meet, fire, BBQ etc and no one was worried. If there was an accident (which there wasn't) then we were just a bunch of people in a field. No blame. Now that insurance is involved things alter. As a club we cannot afford insurance that covers us for fires/BBQs and other 'dangerous' things. Unfortunately we now live in a 'blame society' and there are people out there who will take advantage of any chance to make a few quid. If they think that they can make a claim off our insurance they will. You should try working in my industry (power generation) where, on some sites, before you can enter a room you must be wearing steel toe cap boots, flame proof overalls, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection and a hard hat and that's to enter a room where all the equipment is isolated and dead.

Anyway, back to the meets. As has been said - does it matter if it's an organised event or not? It's a meet after all. And remember, if anyone is organising a meet please let me know and I'll send a club cheque towards drink etc. And following on to that single van meets don't qualify

here we go again, therfore if joan and jim try to arrange a meet at Asterly Green again then WE should have extra insurance for asking friends and yet unknown friends to meet at a location. So does that mean anyone suggesting a meet should be covered by public liability insurance or get all that turn up to sign a waver or prenuptial contract. or maybe have a set of false plates handy if we use a site with permission paying a site fee or use private land invited are we still in nead of extra insurance. wish i had a degree in law
